Essential Music

At the age of three, I began playing the piano. I absolutely loved it. When other little girls were playing with dolls and toys, I was playing my piano. Even after many years of classical training, concerts, and directing, I still love it. Why? It relaxes me. Just like aromatherapy, I love the atmosphere and moods that music creates. Of course, I don't want to hear Wagner or Dvorak when I'm relaxing in my "home spa."  I need music that creates a relaxing, peaceful, serene mood. The genre that does this for me is Ambient. Ambient music focuses more on atmosphere and mood than structure or melody. It's instrumental with electronic textures. There are no apparent beats. It is background music infused with sounds of nature.

The best way to truly experience the aromatherapy products of Essential Scents & Solids by Regan is to listen to some ambient tracks. I had a conversation with my cousin, Aaron Rhines, about an idea I had to complete my product line. An ambient CD. Aaron  is one of the most gifted eclectic musicians that I know. We talked, and he created.  As a result, Aaron created one of the finest Ambient CDs that I have ever heard. As the executive producer, I am confident that you will enjoy every track from beginning to end. We named the CD, Awakenings.  Your mental state will truly be awakened when you listen.  You can hear a clip from Awakenings when you first enter this site. CDs can be purchased here.

Happy Listening, Regan

Aaron Rhines, composer

Born into an artistically oriented family in Washington, D.C., Aaron Rhines focused on music early. The three people who sparked his interest in music were his father, John Rhines, his cousin, Regan Hicks-Goldstein, both classical pianists and the late Mrs. Rachael Bell. Although his father began teaching Aaron piano before age 5, playing baritone in jr. high and high school as well as studying piano on his own led him to study Jazz at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. From there Aaron moved to New York City where he studied Jazz piano with Michael Cochran and Greg Murphy.

While in New York, he performed with various bands in Manhattan and eventually formed his own Jazz trio which lead to a gig in Indonesia with the singer/songwriter Menace. His travels continued overseas after meeting DJ Bert Bevans. This meeting lead to travels to Australia, London, and Geneva Switzerland as part of his production team.

His projects include composing and recording the music for the children’s CD, "Access The Experience," and composing the music for the play, "Don’t Tell Grandma I Met Him On-Line." His CD, "Clear Skies," has overwhelmingly become a fan favorite.
